Profile: Søren Pedersen

Personal background
I'm born in 1978, from Hadsund, Northjutland in Denmark.
I currently work as a system analyst/developer, and are trying to improve my skills in C . I have been using computers since I was 8, which in the start was the brilliant Commodore 64, and as time grew, I have several computers on my lan, including several unix servers (OpenBSD actually).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is by far the best project I have seen to search an answer of the ever interesting question: "Are we alone in the universe."

Pure logic makes sence that of course we aren't. We may be the only existing intelligent race in the universe at present time, but why should we? With all the options and chances, there should be a similar, if not more, intelligent race out there somewhere. Its not very likely we will ever meet them and/or they will have interest in meeting us, but it sure would nice to know.

SETI@HOME is in my humble opinion not optimized to find life, as its only looking for planets containing one of the many "ingredients" for the life recipe, H2O, but it sure is a step in the direction, and it would be nice if it payed off results. I don't personally think SETI@HOME ever will find anything, but its again about taking a chance.

Humans should transmit a beacon out, and it should contains similar info as the satelite we sent out (can't remember its name.. voyager?) that had a huge disc and instructions on how to play it, with examples and data about our race, and most important, that we seek exchange of information and peace.
