Personal background
i am 28 yr. old male. i live in harrisburg, pa. i do nothing. i am nothing. i am just another faceless person in a world full of faceless people. my excistence is now and forever meaningless. i will more likely than not never make a difference in this world. but, seti and seti@home have a chance to make a difference, to discover something bigger than ourselves. seti's impact on history could be unprecendented. i will be honored if i am a part of that, no matter how small a part that may be.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
we are not alone. discovery is imminent . i, nor anyone, can say when. i, as in the words of the great kurt vonnegut, thought that we would have photographed the digital image of god by now. but, we she keep looking and stay proactive in our search; it is the least we can do. will there be dangers? yes, and we will probably be the source of them. humans are nortorious for wreaking dominance first, and asking questions later. we should watch ourselves; the consequences could be devestating, even if only in the knowledge lost by such hostile actions.

our search should also include transmitting a beacon. who knows? maybe "they" are listening for signals from us.

i run seti@home because i feel it is my duty to do so. besides, i would like to be a part of something (see above). don't we all?
