Personal background
My name is Brent. I am 43 years old and have been running SETI steadily since 2003. I first started running SETI in 1999 when I got my first computer, but had to shut it down because of the type of computer I was running at the time.

When I can, I encourage others with computers at home to do the same.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI because I refuse to believe that with all the billions of stars and galaxies in our universe, that there is only one planet that has intelligent life on it.

It is entirely possible that whatever other intelligent life there is out there may not be as friendly as we intend to be, but that is a chance that I for one am willing to take.

My only suggestion would be to our government. They need to take some of the money away from the Welfare system and put it into our space exploration where it will do some good, instead of paying people to be lazy and sit at home complaining that the world has been so mean to them.
