Personal background
Is that all there is? If that's all there is, my friend, then let's keep dancing, let's break out the booze and have a ball. If that's all there is. Is That All There Is, Lieber and Stoller, sung by Peggy Lee

Is that all there is, sound and fury signifying nothing, entropy silent waiting?

Or is entropy a trick of perception, and there's something there after all?

I'm a writer, who does cataloguing and miscelleaneous computer work for a living; currently I have various projects in the works, including a novel based on the folktale of Rimonah (a Jewish-North African variant of Snow White), another one using Japanese legends of the Dragon Kings as a springboard, and several short stories. Another original project, Daughter of the Sphinx, is currently on hold due to burnout on my part.

I enjoy most music (except rap and country), anime, science fiction/fantasy, history (currently most interested in pre-Islamic Middle East/North Africa and Kofun Japan), web design (looking dubiously at CSS at the moment), video games (though rather disappointed in FFX), the Arts styles (Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts), folklore and folktales, and cooking (though I loathe dishes).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It's too big a universe for life not to exist elsewhere, particularly given the growing evidence that various building blocks for life exist everywhere. It's not so much how or when we meet extraterrestrial life - it's whether we can recognize it when we do, and find a way to communicate.
