Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I registered for SETI@Home as soon as a bought my first new computer for my home. I believe that it is mathematically ridiculous to assume that we are the only forms of intelligent life in the universe, and am happy to contribute to any project that might debunk that notion. My only concern is best expressed by the saying "Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it." Meaning, in this case, I hope that if we do make contact in my lifetime that it's not with something or someone that may have been best left undisturbed. On the other hand, it's always been my wish that, by making contact, we learn of our own place in the universe and that that awareness brings an end to our attempts to destroy ourselves.
