Profile: Robert

Personal background
I'll be 27 in less than a month. I have a daughter who will be 1 year old in less than a week, and a life to write stories about. I'm spiritual, when I have time, but it's always on my mind. I read philosophy, I play the trumpet, I like techno and progressive or art rock, and almost all of the sciences. Everything else you can get from my homepage link.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'll just answer the questions, that should be easy enough.

I run it because I do believe it is truly ignorant to deny the possibility of intelligent life outside of this solar system, and to search for it seems a worthy cause. I am participating in something indefinitely positive, while not even really doing anything.

My view of course is that this is an excellent idea, hence the reason I have been doing this since I discovered it back in 2002. I try to put this program on other people's computers, and just hide it, though I'm sure that's not exactly ethical. But there really is no harm, and some just wouldn't understand anyway. But the more who participate, the better off this is, as two or two billion heads are always better than one.

I'm not sure I have any suggestions. but perhaps some sort of very small messenger client within the program, where you can maybe randomly message someone else who's got the chat client 'connected'. I doubt you'd find many malicious people in this community, so virus sharing wouldn't really be a threat. I'm not a programmer, so don't ask me to do it, but I know WinMX has something that's minimal but effective.
