Personal background
I am currently a student at Lynchburg College in Virginia (Class of 2003), a Mathematics and Physics major. I also run Cross Country and Track & Field while trying to spend my free time reading, though some type of game usually enters my routine by the end of each semester.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I haven't discovered my true feelings on extraterrestrial life, but I wanted to run this program just in case there is something/somebody out there. I find it hard to believe that our planet is the only planet to have life exist on it. As for sending a beacon for others to find, I think it is a good idea to send some kind of signal out, which, in my opinion, needs only to be an organized, repeating signal that is not found naturally anywhere. This would allow anyone that is listening the ability to realize that intelligent life exists somewhere other than their planet.
