Personal background
I am a manager working in medical materials management for a large hospital system in the upstate of South Carolina, USA. I am running an HP w/1.2 GHz Celeron. I have always had a major interest in all of the sciences, especially astronomy, physics, and genetics. I grew up in Central Florida during the beginings of the Mercury project and through the Gemini and Apollo projects. We had a friend of the family during that time that worked for NASA at the Cape that keep me up with the NASA project reports. Wow what wonderful early exposure! My favorite authors are Asimov, Herbert, Tolkien, Ironside, Spurgeon, Henry Morris and Cussler. I've been a member of the team LittleWhiteDog since March 4, 2003.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm not a believer in ET life but I am willing to participate in proving one way or the other.

According to the Bible, human life has never existed anywhere but on earth for these past 6,000 or so years. Adam was the first man not the second or third man--of the old creation (1 Cor. 15:47). Christ is the "second man," the Lord from Heaven, who became the firstborn from the dead of the new creation (Hebrews 2:6-10).
According to the Bible, the planets and stars were created in connection with this earth and for man's benefit (Genesis 1:14-19). The heavenly bodies exist "for lights to divide the day from the night" and "for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years." The heavens also exist to "declare the glory of God" (Psalm 19:1). Boy do they! Wow! 70,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars and we'll count more when our telescopes can see further according to the Aussies! Man continues to try to define, confine, catalog and quantitate the the heavens and can't begin to set its boundries (Jer 31:37). As we explore the heavens there is another we haven't even begun to see (II Cor 12:2)
For an excellent explaination of the Bethleham Star go to the Roper Mt Astonomers Club web site page at www.rmastro.com/astrophotos.php or go to www.jamespurck.com/StarofBethlehem.htm.

In any case if my understanding of this issue ends up being incorrect (which I don't feel it will) it will not have any effect on what the Bible very clearly teaches regarding life, faith, destiny and salvation. Also human history becomes more glorious when we realize that the universe did not happen by chance but rather by design. The details of what we have been seeing in the heavens in the last few years is breathtaking in light of it being placed there by the spoken word.
