Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?
It seems unreasonable to me to believe life can only exist on Earth. Because of the sheer enormity of the Universe, I find it highly unlikely Earth is the only intelligent (as we see it) life in the universe.
Why do you run SETI@home?
Imagine the irony of intelligent life outside our planet actually trying to contact us, and us not listening. Even worse, our listening devices actually picking up the message but us not having the technology to find the message. Since it costs next to nothing to donate my unused computer resources to make sure this does not happen, why not?
Or maybe I just read too many sci-fi books growing up. :)
