Profile: The Mad Jester

Personal background
Born in the USA I was raised in Europe. In the early 80s my mother and I saw a UFO over our vehicle matching our speed, this happened twice and though we were close to an Air Force Base it was unlike any aircraft that I have ever seen (I grew up on Air Force bases and have seen just about every aircraft known to man, including the stealth). I have never seen anything like it before or since.

I am 28 years old and a father of two, one boy- 8 years old, and one girl- 3 years old. I follow a Pagan path religiously and have been an avid Ghost Hunter, investigating and logging paranormal activity for the past 11 years.

I currently own and run a retail outlet in Texas.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. To believe that we are the only planet with inelegant life capable of space travel in the entire universe or even in all of space would be a bit presumptuous of us.

In the case of discovery of non inelegant life, I believe that we as humans will travel to discover. In the case of inelegant life I truly believe that they will make themselves known to us when they believe we are ready.

The dangers of Discovery of life forms more developed than we does indeed pose hazards and dangers. We as Humans have a problem taking useful and technologically advanced information and turning it into weapons of mass destruction.
Should we learn such things from an intellectually superior race of beings (and any being able to traverse space to meet us on our own ground is truely intellectually superior), I feel that the danger is apparent. Look at the atom... there are so many productive things that could be done with such information but instead, we turn it into the most devastating force that this planet has ever seen in known history. Now, I am no Green Peace guy or anything and I am not the most passive person you will ever meet but I feel that caution should defenently be exercised.

2) I do think that we should transmit beacons, though I believe that we have already been visited and they already know who we are.

3) I run seti at home because I want to make a difference. I know that seti is a non profit organization and being such is limited in its financial abilities. I believe that in order for seti to be able to process all of the information it receives, it needs people like me to assist otherwise it would take so much longer and cost more than even seti could afford to process all of the information that is received by dish. I don't mind sharing my PC with seti and processing information for them, I feel like I am doing something worth while and helping out.
