Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI@home? Love it. Great technology, great example of technology helping to advance scientific discovery.

Extraterrestrial life? seems very likely to me. when and how? I'm not even qualified to guess.

Beacon? I'm the pessimist: I don't think we should transmit a beacon for others. We should evolve as much as possible before trying to interact with ET or the Klingons. Technological capabilities will be a crucial asset in a sufficiently large percentage of possible scenarios involving a relationship w/ extraterrestrials.

I run seti@home because I maintain a number of systems that can afford the usage, iand I feel much better knowing that such a large number of cycles are scavenged and put to use for something interesting.
