Personal background
I am a Shift Manager in a Race and Sports Book in Laughlin, Nevada by day, and a searcher for "Truth" by night.
My life has taught me much about the Universe or perhaps I have taught myself much about the Universe including this little planet called Earth. This is still so much to learn though....
I continue my quest for the Truth through investigation of known writings and data. How do I know what is Truth and what is not? Well, it seems to just be something that was encoded inside of me at my creation...an awareness...a calling to search...call it what you will. I am here to tell others what I know.
From the earliest thoughts of my life I could see through a falsehood and knew when to walk the other way. I remember when I first found the "Others". It was actually in Lake Tahoe, Nevada along the lakeshore. I was walking along the beach and there He was. Tall, blond, and strong with the deepest ice blue eyes I had ever seen. He was emitting an intelligence that was far beyond any I had ever seen. There were two others who joined us later and it is "they" who urged me to continue my quest for the Truth.
It is out there. You don't have to be an X-Files fan or a nut to know that. You just have to use your common sense.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Is there life out there? Absolutely!!!!!!!! There is no doubt and if any of you out there think "They" aren't here among us you belong in a rubber room. I have seen enough in my lifetime to more than convince me. I NOT ONLY BELIEVE..I KNOW!
As far as the dangers of discovery of life on other planets..well, we won't know until it is done will we? Did we not accept that risk when the first human pointed his telescope at the Stars let alone put up dishes and satelites to bring them closer to us?
Perhaps there are life forms out there in a distant galaxy waiting for us to find them. Are they thinking the same thing as we are?? Are They worried about us?
2. Should we transmit a beacon? Please..are you trying to tell me you haven't?
Of course what information is sent would probably be mathematical. But it would or should contain something about human life without going into total details. I mean, why tell a possible "aggressive" race of beings what our weak points are. Right?
3. I run SETI@home because it is another avenue to my research and if I can help find life that may help our civilization to come back to terms with the direction that that they have strayed from then I have accomplished more than I have hope for right now.
I find your project to be awesome and I hope that more people will become involved in it. I certainly have always been a stanch supporter of SETI from years ago. Just never had the resources or the danged college degrees to be able to open any doors to get involved.
As for suggestions? Well, I know that although sounds must be recalculated to be within our hearing range that it should be done. We should be able to "hear" what we are receiving. Believe me I would spend many hours a day "listening" instead of "watching" data come across a screen even if 99% of the time I was hearing nothing more than a "hissing" noise.
