Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. ExtraTerrastrial Life exits though only by statistic proof. Humans will discover ETL within the next millenium if humanity will life that long as we might be able to recieve signals. As we aren't capable of answering unless the source is very near, there is no danger. The benefits might vary from knowing definitly that's something out there to incredibly advances in sience.

2. We have already "transmitted" various beacons. Radio and television broadcasts out in the space for round about 60 years. And the voyager probes had a plate with them, too. So the only thing we could really do is a very strong very source on a relative small frequency band in a very narrow roomangle. As this would only reach few stars and we haven'T the knowledge to build a real strong source this could only be a response on recieving a signal.
If we answer we sould send the history of mankind preceded by a mathamatical algorythem to simplify learning our language. I would propose english as it's very simple and easy to learn. History shouldn't be send by americans, as they really don't know much about the nonamerican part of history and especially concerning the newest development in politics, they should better say nothing to current history.

3.To help finding ETL and to keep my computer from wasting current while it's idle. The project is good, though I don't believe on radio teleskope will do. The processing power might be adequate, but the detectors aren't.
