Originally started with SETI@home in 1999 while I was living in my home country, The Netherlands. Together with some friends I was active for some time, but SETI sort of faded from my memory. Now, twenty years later, it popped into my mind again. Currently I am happily living in Portugal and setting up all my (business) computers with BOINC as they are often running.
Since this country certainly has some nice spots without light pollution, I am also picking up astronomy. There is a lot to discover and learn.

Originalmente comecei com o SETI@home em 1999 enquanto morava no meu paÃs de nascimento, Holanda. Junto com alguns amigos, fiquei ativo por algum tempo, mas o SETI meio que desapareceu da minha memória. Agora, vinte anos depois, me veio à mente novamente. Atualmente, estou feliz em vivar em Portugal e configurar todos os meus computadores (empresarial) com o BOINC, pois eles geralmente estão ligados.
Como este paÃs certamente tem alguns lugares agradáveis sem poluição luminosa, também estou adquirindo astronomia. Há muito para descobrir e aprender.

Oorspronkelijk begonnen met SETI@home in 1999 toen ik in mijn geboorteland Nederland woonde. Samen met enkele vrienden was ik enige tijd actief, maar SETI verdween een beetje uit mijn geheugen. Nu, twintig jaar later, kwam het weer in me op. Momenteel woon ik met plezier in Portugal en installeer ik BOINC op al mijn (zakelijke) computers die vaak aan staan.
Aangezien dit land zeker een aantal leuke plekken heeft zonder lichtvervuiling, ben ik ook bezig met het oppikken van astronomie. Er is veel te ontdekken en te leren. |

To me it seems arrogant to think that in such a vast space, we would be the only 'intelligent' beings. There must be more. But I am fairly sure neither me nor my children will ever find proof for that.

Het lijkt mij arrogant om te denken dat we in zo'n grote ruimte de enige 'intelligente' wezens zouden zijn. Er moet meer zijn. Maar ik ben er vrij zeker van dat noch ik, noch mijn kinderen daar ooit bewijs voor zullen vinden. |
