Personal background

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? There are two elements to a question such as this. Does ET exist and do I think it does. Neither of these questions can be answered to anyone’s satisfaction, not until we have explored every planet in the universe.

If so, when and how will humans discover it? This is an altogether impossible question to answer. For us to consider ourselves the only sentient life form in existence is a premise of unbelievable arrogance. How will we discover other life forms? Who can possibly say? It will depend upon the forms that the other life forms have

What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery? For the dangers ask the Aztecs, Native Americans or the Australian Aborigines. For the benefits consider a cure for AIDS or cancer or the Grand Unified Theory. They may know such things.
