Personal background
I am a married female who has been in the corporate world the majority of my adult life. Lived in various parts of the United States. Currently reside in the midwest and am looking forward to retirement so I can spend more time on my home PC doing what I like instead of working on the corporate pc doing what "they" like. (but I still have a few years to go)
Have always been interested in the skies since I was a little girl. My Junior High School even had an "inhouse" planetarium. I was fascinated with it. Maybe that is why I chose to live somewhere where you can actually see the stars at night. We have folks come to visit and they are amazed at the night sky. I can't tell you how many times people come in from my yard and say, "Wow, there are STARS out there." Even my own son remarked "Mom, ya know how long it has been since I've seen stars?" I just smile and thank God that he has given me the blessing of being able to live in such a peaceful, beautiful place.
I also would like to be involved in something special and historical for the wellbeing of our planet and maybe for other planets too.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe others are out there. I just hope that when we discover each other that we are all mature enough not to panic and wipe each other out.

Yes I think we should transmit beacons for others to find us and again hope we can find other mature beings. Maybe we can each learn from each others societies and finally find a way to total peace.

I have been interested in this for quite a while but was hesitant to join until I finally found someone who I know and trust who is also doing this same thing. Thank you my friend for renewing my interest and giving me the 'boost' to join SETI.
