Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that there are too many possibilities for other locations in the universe that could support life to assume that we are the only life. Also it is a terrible waste of space if we are the only life bearing planet.

The earth has been broadcasting for years. This may provide a beacon for other life. I do not know if it would be wise to beam a signal with specific information about us without knowing to whom we are sending. This may be a moot point as for as having visitors because the vast distances probably will insulate us from any other life.

I would like to know if there is other life somewhere else in the universe.
The feel that the search is necessary to satisfy our urge to know all we can about the universe.
