Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. LIfe "out there" has to exist. To think otherwise is naive. I have no idea when and how we will discover it, but SETI is a damned good start. The benefits are infinite and the dangers will be what we cause to be dangerous; i.e. greeting a new found race of people with a rocket launcher in our hands.

2. Yes we should transmit a beacon for others to find. The information to send? How about: "Give us a chance, we're not really as backward as we appear."

3. I run SETI@home because I hope and believe that one day we WILL make contact and become a part of the Universal race of beings. My views about the project have been stated in parts 1 and 2.

Peace,

Charlie
