| I live in Atlanta, GA. I have been around computers since I was 10. I am a software engineer with over 12 years experience. I do most of my development in Java these days but have extensive experience in C/C . I have worked on DOS, Windows, Macs, Solaris, and Linux. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| I do think extraterrestrial life exists. The question is, can we talk to it or understand it when/if it talks? Is it intelligent? If so, is it intelligent in the way that we are? If it is, are thier goals the same as ours? Many SF writers have posulated plausible senarios. Some were of the doomsday variety and some were more positive. My belief is that if we do not try to contact other intelligent life, we will not know whether they are peaceful or belligerent. That is why I run SETI@home and why I give money to the Pheonix Institute. |
