Personal background |
I'm an 21 years old romanian student, at the Valachia University of Targoviste. I foud out about this project back in 1999, but i wasn't able to offer my computer resources, because i didn't had internet connection at home. After almost two years, things have changed, and i can fully exploit the unused resources of several computers, at ahome and at work as well. I work as an assistant programmer at a local college institute, and most of the computers are ued by me in the Seti way.
My home work computer is an AMD K7 - 750 Mhz, 128 RAM, and at work:
- 1 Intel Pentium III - 500 Mhz 128 RAM
- 5 Intel Celeron - 433 Mhz 32 RAM
- 3 AMD K6/2 - 450 Mhz 32 RAM
- 1 Intel Pentium 75 Mhz 8 RAM
- 2 SU-5 40 Mhz 12 RAM
In the near future, i will install and run Seti on the server, an AMD K6/2 350 Mhz 32 RAM - Linux, computer wich is running continously for almost two years, and has no tasks. Also another 2 Celerons 433 and 4 K6/2 450 are waiting for me to put'em to work.
The most incovinient thing is that on most of the computers, when some other people are working, i have to stop Seti, because of the small amount of RAM. Still, they work a few hours per day, and this is better then nothing. As a result, in 3 days or less, i succeded 6 units, and I hope that's only the start.
Keep up the good work, guys! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
That oppinion stuff blurs me, but what can I say? I always belived in E.T. life, and I consider Seti the most important and serious project ever initiated in the search of E.T. It's a lot to say about E.T. but al we can do is wait, and prepare, at least moraly. Oh, and one more thing: might be stupid, but what evolved species would consider us evolved when there are wars all over the planet? |
