Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
I believe that there is life out there in the universe, that we haven't yet discoveered. I have two pc's with some computing power and find the whole idea of distributed computing a fantastic way of putting them to good use when I'm not pushing them to their limits.
I enjoy being part of the biggest global collaborative effort I know of. When we eventually find that ET signal I'm going to be just as excited as the person who finds it. Its kind of a shared ownership thing really.

Thoughts about ETI
Yes ET is out there - its extremely arrogasnt to assume that out of the billions of stars and planets out there, this was the only one to support life. We will eventually discover them (if they don't get to us first)and alothough I think our races will get off to a shaky start, I think we will work things out eventually. The benfits are in the drive to improve technology that will follow their discovery, either supported by them or in an effort to reach them. The downside is that mankind will remain in the hands of the powerbrokers and warmongers with looney military advisors who will inevitably lead us down the wrong path!a
