Personal background
Hi SETI fans, I'm living in ISTANBUL, most known city of TURKEY
(I prefer call my country with its real name "Türkiye", becouse it's not a bird or a meal, it's a great land, it is the origin of many historical civilizations in Asia and Europe).

I'm a computer programmer, 32 years old, reading science and science fiction.
I like to read ASIMOV, CLARKE and of course Carl SAGAN.

I'm taking photos from life, photos of something or someone ordinary in ordinary places, you can always find an extra-ordinary thing in life if you have got real eyes which can see more than the view distance.

I hope we can find the other kinds (my wife calls them "the little green men"). Maybe we will understand the World (also the Universe) is not big as we dream.
Maybe the politicians understand they are not the most important people or the owner of the universe unlike they always think they are.

I'm using SETI DOS client and screen saver both. They runs on an Intel-PII350 PC with MS 2000 Server, an Intel-P233MMX PC with MS Windows 98 and an AMD K6-2 Notebook with MS Windows 98. I can produce 1.5-2 results a day.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1-Sure, maybe we are so close to discover maybe we need centuries, but we will find them with the SETI-like projects. I don't believe the space vehicles, Mars trips or a lucky jet pilot can find them.

Benefits and dangers depend on what we discovered. Maybe they have "miracle therapies" and "fantastic technology" for human kind, maybe they are only searching for some food (all of these minds are subject of some fiction movies you know). My thought, the real benefit is the understanding we are -all the humanity- an ordinary kind of the universe, there are other kinds and we are not the "one".

2-Yes, we can send basic mathematics to inform them about us.

3-Maybe one of my computers will find the "little green man" !...
I believe SETI is one of the most important projects of humanity.
