Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that life is abundent through out the universe. I sadly do not believe that the way we are currently looking for life or signs of life will tell us much more then we now know.

We as a species are an arogant bunch, we believe that because we use radio waves or signals, that it is possible that life else where will have evolved using similar technology and as a result, the way we seek signals is the correct method.

Arogance takes another strange road, when the question is asked, have we been visited by exterterestial life, the response is that this is unlikely since they would probably have to travel great distances and this is improbable.

True, for us to travel distances in light years is impossible for now, but for a race that is hundreds or thousands of years older then us, it might be no more difficult for them, then it is for us to drive into town.

As Carl Segan said, if we are alone in the universe, this indeed would be a waste
