Personal background
Just a person that tries to think. I am 61 years young, a computer consultant specializing in Windows and Internet connection problems. I learn something new every day and believe that the glass is half full.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is at least a try, one analogy is "If you don't buy a lottery ticket, you can't possibly win". ET's are in all likelyhood out there somewhere. When and if ET's should contact us the world and life as we know it will change. We could be eliminated in an instant or rise to levels heretofor only imagined.

Humans have been transmitting a beacon since Marconi, and our little world is probably like a sodium flare (that is if ET uses detectors in the electromagnetic spectrum).

I run SETI at home because of the outside chance that I might be the one. The only suggestion I have is that the SETI search should be expanded as far as it can possibly be. This is truly an endevor worthy of the intellectual community.
