I think we are not the only species. For me it is impossible that there are no other life-forms in our universe. It is always a benefit to keep on searching. I think there will always be dangers, whatever we do. I don´t think that first contact between humans and extraterrestrial life will be like always shown in movies. Perhaps we find evidence on other planets. Humans should always try to discover space because I think it´s our future.
I run SETI@home because it´s very interesting for me. I´t is a good way to help SETI getting results without spending billions in computer that are able to do data analyse. More data can be analysed at the same time by millions of computers arround the world.
