Profile: Jerry

Personal background
I'm a software developer and distributed/parallel computing enthusiast living and working in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I'm an "old guy" in this business, as I'm still coding at age 46, but I tried management and didn't like it. ;)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It seems unreasonable that ETI would not exist. While I think SETI as currently configured only has a long shot at finding it, I'm quite certain that some search is better than no search. I would like to see this program expand, as well as programs for space exploration (and industrialization, since that's likely to be how we pay for it).

SETI@home is an excellent tool for expanding the computing reach of chronically underfunded public programs like SETI. I would like to see additional programs of this kind: expanded SETI bandwidth, large computational models for cosmological study, data analysis and visualization tools for space probe data analysis, and even large spacecraft design analysis could all be done on the "internet-distributed machine" computing model.
