3) hobby astronomer, avid reader and Sci.Fiction fan, history fan.
4) ex-Marine Corps, commercial diver in oil industry.
5) learned about the stars usage in navagation from my Father, an Air Force bomber pilot.
6) strongly believe there is life out there. Hopefully intelligent.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1) other life exists? yes. It would be nice to find out we are not alone, and there
are others out there who are awed by God's creation.
1A) Dangers? What new dangers could there be? we have been broadcasting to the universe for
the last 80 years or so, and if we haven't blown ourselves up by the time contact is made
then there is certainly no danger from them we could not overcome.
2) beacons: we've already sent radio, "The Shadow, The Lone Ranger" etc. and pictures(TV broadcasts) of Hitler & I love lucy, not to mention "Uncle Milte"
If we can't figure out a way to send FTL transmissions then those will be our "FIRST CONTACT" messages.
3) It's fun! It's like playing the lottery. If you win Great! However, until then, the dreams are fantastic. Have you ever dreamed of rowing on the canals of Mars or
ice skating on the rings of Saturn?????
