Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Alien life? Of course. Sometimes I feel like I'm living proof of it.
Should we seek it out? How can we not? It's the nature of humanity to search for the unknown.
Why do I run it? For competetive reasons - I like "winning"; also for altruistic reasons - my "small contribution." Besides, I might actually be the one whose machine finds something. (Under the "if you don't play, you can't win" philosophy.)
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
