Personal background
I am currently living in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas. I have been retired from the United States Coast Guard for 25 Years. I spent 25 yrs on active duty.
18 yrs of that time I was in Aviation, as an aircraft electrician, and flight crew member on various types of aircraft. Both fixed wing and rotary wing. So needless to say, I have seen a lot of aerial phanomenon, both explained and unexplained. The unexplained were probably explainable given time to persue. No one seemed to care in most cases.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that the possibility of E.T. exists. Then again, what if we are the most advanced life in the universe? Or we have not advanced to the point that E.T. even cares if we exist or are trying to contact them. Maybe we are somewhere in between and stuck between a rock and a hard place. Damned if we do and damned if we don't, But we as residents of this miniscule rock, way out over the fence and in left field, must keep on trying to let some one know that we are here. The benefits are beyond calculation, and the dangers are only what we will create for humanity.

We should continue to wave a flag, in hopes that E.T. will catch sight of it out of the corner of their eye, and say what was that? And come and investigate.

As to why I run Seti@Home. I am not sure that sending signals on the electromagnetic spectrum, is the answer, but it is for now, the best we have.
I run seti because I want to do my part in this vast undertaking. I am skeptical that we will ever be able to make contact, but we have to make the attempt. We must yell as loud as we can. Jump up and down and wave our collective arms as hard as we can, until we are either worn out or we get their attention.

I have known about SETI for more than 20 yrs. and have always hoped there would be a way for us nonscientific types to participate in such a project. One of my sons is a participant in this program, and he put me on to it in March 2001
Currently I have no sugestions. Thanks Ogar
