Personal background |
I'm a 20-year-old Computer Science university student, living in Sydney, Australia. I'm interested in programming, civil aviation, change-ringing and playing the harp. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
My personal view is that the probability of there being intelligent life on other planets is too great to be ignored. However, I retain a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to the practical issues - if we do receive a signal from another race, it would probably be so ancient that communication with the sender would be impossible.
I run SETI@Home mainly on a whim, with the attitude "What do we have to lose?". Also, the graphics provide a mesmerising focus for me to rest my eyes upon when I'm pondering a tricky programming conundrum! |
