Profile: Meliton Martinez Tovar

Personal background
I was born in Mexico City in Feb. 1st., 1960 and I have 15 years living in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, where I have a construction company.

Eight years ago I quitted using PC's both at home and my business, and I changed all my computers to Macintosh. I'm running SETI since Feb. 24, 1999 in five PowerMac's with MacOS 9.1.

My other hobby, besides upgrading and fixing bugs in my Mac's, is riding BMW Motorcycles. The one I enjoy the most is the BMW R1100. It's beautiful to ride both in South USA and Northern Mexico.

The first PowerMac I used to run SETI is a Quadra 700 with Power Card running at 66 Mhz!!! Each data unit took 140 hrs. to complete in my old Mac Quadra, which I still have and my son Alfredo (11) is using for his homework.

Later on I upgraded (?) to 7500, 8500 and 9600 PowerMac's with Sonet Power Cards, running at 400 Mhz. These machines take about 34 hrs. to complete each data unit.

I keep my computers on 24 hrs per day, all year round. Once it's loaded and running they won't go off unless something has to be fixed or upgraded.

You may send me an e-mail, either in English or Spanish to: meliton20@hotmail.com

I wish for everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year 2002, and good luck in everything you do in life.

Best regards to you all, and keep on SETI... we may find them out there very soon!!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI THOUGHTS

I participate in SET because it's a huge project very important for humanity.

I'm sure we're not alone in our Universe and we should do our best efforts to find other inteligence out there. We could totally change our World if we succeed in our search.

Keep on SETI!!!
