Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Statistically speaking some sort of life out there has to exist. I guess its just a matter of how close they are and if they have the capacity to send us something. If we receive some sort of signal I would imagine it would be so far from the past and/or so unintelligble that it wouldn't be that "useful", but it would still be a remarkable event for our world. Of course we may just get the intergalactic version of Jerry Springer, and in that case I wonder if we can just turn all the lights off on earth and pretend we aren't home when they come by.
If we were to transmit a beacon for others to find I think it should be one of the Pittburgh Steelers Super Bowl wins from the 1970's. Because, as we all know, football is the universal language. |
