I'm the 'Environmental Guy' at Barr Lab's Cincinnati facility. Weekends, you are likely to find me either driving a fuel truck for the US Army or scrubbing the inside of a fish tank at the Newport Aquarium or the Cincinnati Zoo where I work as a volunteer diver.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm confident that extraterrestrial life exists--that it is capable of communication is where I become much less confident. The first contact with alien life will probably result in flu-like symptoms.
As for UFO's--by definition, they must exist until every sighting is identified. I think that the best way we can protect ourselves from encounters with aliens is for INS to get their act together and that we get some control over our Tex/Mex border.
Why do I participate in SETI? I'm a skeptic who wants to entertain the idea that he is wrong. I figure that my little contribution may afford me the opportunity to say that I was correct in my skepticism.
...Of course, it is unscientific to conclude the absence of something by lack of evidence...
