Personal background
Hey!

I am 19 and I am computers maniac from Poland. I like programming very much and I am also interested in algorithms. That's why I start in every programming contest I can and study computing at Poznan University of Technology. During my free time I like solving problems from uva.acm.es, swimming and skiing (unfortunately it's possible only in winter :-( ). I am a fan of Linux (I use Slackware 9.0) - the only one good OS. People! Don't use M. W. !

Best regards for all reading these words,

Szymon (Simon) W.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does extraterrestrial life exist? Maybe yes, maybe no. I think this question is similar to "To be or not to be". ETL can exist but it isn't significant for us. Even if it exists probably it isn't more intelligent than we. And I believe they haven't got soul of course. So they are only a kind of animals :-D I think that they can't be very dangerous. It is much more possible that mankind will destroy the Earth during nuclear war than that they will come to kill us.

I think that if we send something for others it can be demonstration of some interesting algorithm (maybe KMP - it's very nice and easy do demonstrate). It can prove our ability to logical and creative thinking.

And at the end - I run SETI@home simply because I want to support Polish Linux Team. LINUX RULEZ!
