Profile: Matthew M Spencer

Personal background
"Everything for everybody and nothing for ourselves."-FZLN

I'm 24, a student and employee at West Virginia University. I'm in I.T. technician by day, a hip-hop artist at night, and a capoeirista by hobby. I'm trying to relearn my Native American language and culture but also find my own way in this small yet turbulent world. I'm a shaggy haired geek who loves underground hip hop. I don't read as much as I'd like to, I have a fine appreciation for foreign and indy films, I'm a radical liberal bordering socialist, I used to cook in the army, I'm an MC and a Dj, I'm an outdoors person, I write, I paint, I draw, I study Architecture and am always trying to learn another language, I have a strong distrust for Capitalism, Republicans, Big Businesses, and Inequalities, I'm determined and I've struggled every day of my life but I love it. I've a dynamic personality, I know my purpose in life, I can kick some ass, but Id rather sit around and be a lazy philosopher. lol. I enjoy television from The Wire to Battlestar Galactica, music from Jack Johnson to Lupe Fiasco, books from Herman Hesse to Ernest Hemmingway.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
"What a splendid perspective contact
with a different civilization might provide!
In a cosmic setting vast and old
beyond ordinary human understanding
we are a little lonely, and we ponder the ultimate significance,
if any, of our tiny but exquisite blue planet, the Earth...
In the deepest sense the search for extraterrestrial intelligence
is a search for ourselves." - Carl Sagan
