Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There is life out there. It will be quite awhile before we get to interact with "something" else. It will probably be for the self interest of the United States.

Transmitting a beacon is a good idea - but how do we know that it would be recognized as anything intelligent? It could be received as "noise" the same as what we perceive signal from space.

I think we willl be able to identify a transmission from another source. The project is a brilliant idea. Feed back on any possible targets that individuals process - even if there was nothing maybe sending something that has some sort of quantifiable info about the progress.
