Personal background |
I am from Wheeling, West Virginia. I am twenty-four years old, and am the System Administrator (Unix) of a local broadband/dial-up/CLEC company. I still attend College at Wheeling Jesuit University where I major in Computer Science. My hobbies include reading, programming, Linux, jogging, and martial arts (Jeet Kune Do). |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I believe Extraterrestrial life exists. I believe that we will find it (or it will find us) sometime within our lifetime. The benefits could be access to advanced technology and medical breakthroughs, while the dangers being conquest, war, disease, or a nice warm meal.
I believe that we should transmit a beacon for others to find. I don't think that we should send any information other than a strong rhymical burst of energy that will act as a homing signal.
I run SETI@home because I believe that it is a worthwhile thing to do, and I like science, and if no life is ever found, at least we will know what space really sounds like.
