Profile: Billbo-Greenpoint-Brooklyn

Personal background
I am a 52 year old Systems Engineer, recently retired from a major NYC Bank after 23 years of service. I was born and have lived in NYC my entire life. I travel on vacations throughout the Carribean and South America. I am married for 18 years and decided with my wife not to have children. Although, I live in Brooklyn, I spend most of my Summer months in a country house on the east end of Long Island. MY neighbors affectionally call us "Bungalow Bill", and my wife Janet "Janet from another Planet". I enjor traveling on vacations, working on complex computer systems problems, and Nascar Racing. I have always been interested in the outer space, rockets, and telescopes. As a child I was an avid model rocket kit builder, and even designed, built, and flew a few from scratch.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that the " Seti Project" is a great idea. I think that the universe is too big to have only (earth) humans as its only inhabitants. I don’t think that we will find the "ET". I think that when we become mature enough as a species, the "ET's" will contact us. I’m sure that like on earth there are good and bad out there somewhere. We understand that exploration of the unknown brings a certain amount of danger, but the new inter-galactic danger can cause planet-wide problems. We as the joined human species should first come together as a "single species", and put away our petty differences before we venture too much further into the unknown. We should as a earth species generate a "Hello Beacon" to advertise our existence. This may demonstrate to the "ET's" that we may have become mature enough to join the greater group of species. I participate in Seti to see if there is something that can be uncovered about other species existence.
