Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Would be thrilled to find evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence in my lifetime.
2. Sadly, I'm beginning to wonder whether we may in fact be alone. The natural inference from the behaviors displayed by we humans is that the Drake Equation may get hung up on the self-destruction part. Hope not.
3. If the day ever comes when extraterrestrial intelligence is detected, I wonder...will it really affect how people think and behave? I suspect it will not unless the message we receive is more than just a friendly hello. Maybe it's just me, but my gut tells me that people's sense of wonder is dying lately.
