Profile: James Dean, jr.

Personal background
I have been a long time believer and supporter of SETI. I currently have the screen saver running on two computers. This is the best use of a computer's idle time I can think of. Anyone feel free to e-mail me of their own ideas for the US space program.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, absolutely I believe extraterrestrial life exists. I can't really say when or how we will discover it, or if ET's will discover us or make themselves known to us. The best benefit would be the exchange of knowledge. The danger would probably be some unknown illness or disease. Transmitting a beacon is a good idea, the ideal content would be our location in the galaxy, our basic genetic code and a sampling of our advancement in science, mathematics and the arts. I run SETI because I have kept informed of ever since reading about it in my first astronomy class I took in high school. My views are positive and I think it is an excellent project to further the knowledge of man. As far as suggestions, I believe the personnel overseeing SETI are better informed to make the suggestions for improving SETI.
