Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI@home and similar projects are wonderful examples of what can be done with the internet. This is a unique blend of two technologies - parallel processing and internet-based networking - that uses my wasted CPU cycles and turns them into something productive.

I hadn't visited the SETI@home site in quite some time, and decided to check it out today. I was surprised to find that using just a PC, I had crept up into the top 5% of users. Talk about the turtle winning the race!

I do believe there is life out there, somewhere, in some form. I also expect that if/when we discover that life, it will be very different from our expectations. However, it would surprise me if we found evidence of any type of intelligent life within the next 20 years.

But once I find my "ET" I want to have our picture taken together!
