Personal background
We started "Seti At Home" while my Wife & I were outside in Roswell, New Mexico.
We are now back at cabin which is near Nenana, Alaska. One has only to go
outside on a crisp -30 degree night, look at the "Northern Lights," and view
the stars in our "Alaskan Pitch Black Skies" from our home observatory and they can
physically feel that the universe is so vast that it would be ludicrous to
believe we are "alone" in it.

It was easier using "Seti At Home" in New Mexico as we could have a separate
phone line for our two computers and could complete more "work units."
However, we feel this project is so important we will continue to complete
as many as we can. We are currently finishing our 500th work unit. As quick
as a second line becomes available to us we will get back up to speed.

Our log home is about fifty miles from any town. This, to us, is a benefit
for it gives us a lot of time to work on "astronomy projects," of which to
us "Seti At Home" is among our top priorities.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Both my Wife & I feel that it would be the height of arrogance to believe
that we are the only life in the universe. Humans will only make contact by
efforts like "Seti At Home." The benefits are unlimited. The only
danger we can imagine is if we as a people try to conquer those we make contact
with rather than extending the hand of friendship.

2. Absolutely we should transmit a beacon and anything else that will facilitate
our making contact with other life forms. First we think that we should send
a "general" greeting stressing friendship and mutual cooperation.

3. We run "Seti At Home" first because we feel we should and then because it
is a way that we can help in the effort to contact other life forms. Finally
we run it because we can't imagine any reason why we would not want to make this
effort. The project in our opinion's is making every effort it can to make
this contact. Suggestions; continue making the efforts regardless of how long
it takes.
