Profile: Niels Schmidt

Personal background
Hey there, it’s me Niels from Germany.

I’m 20 years old and very interested in the work of SETI.

I live in the east part of Germany. The towns name is Dresden. My hobbies are planes. I love to fly. I haven’t made my engine plane license yet but I’m working on it. When I was 16 I started to fly glider planes. When I graduated from school in 2004 I worked on a containership for a while (thats why i could´nt fly anymore, and now i´m a little out of money). I drove on it through Asia. That gave me the opportunity to see countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and others.... I also have been to the USA. That was in 2001 and I was there with my parents. We traveled through Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. It was a great time.

You see my biggest passion is to travel....traveling is great ...to see the world gives you such a great horizon ....traveling is a perfect way to enlarge the own horizon.

At the moment I’m back in school. In 2005 I decided to attend school again to get my A-Level degree. I hope I’ll get it...we’ll know it in summer 2007.

That’s now about me...I’m sure I’ll add details from time to time

feel free to send me e.mails to Niels0407@aol.com
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI for a lot reasons. First of all humans have always been nosy. Everybody wants to know if there is something more out there in space...something like us. I’m sure if there would be some intelligent intelligence we can learn from it and they might be able to learn from us. Sure even if we find another species we wouldn’t be able to contact it today. ....but it would give us the satisfaction and safeness that we are not alone.

Suggestions to SETI.... If SETI would publish results they have made from this project more often that would be perfect...
