Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I do think there's some other life in the universe. I don't know how humans will find them (if they ever will..) Benefits: people can study a new race/culture, can get new tecnology, etc. Dangers: they might be hostile and attack us.
2. Humans have been transmitting radio and television shows for years to space. I think that is enough.
3. I run SETI@home because there's a change we WILL find life. The project is good. It can find some life, but it's a very small change. Anything is better than nothing.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
