Personal background
Hi, my name is Dave and I live in the United Kingdom.
I was born in 1950 in a town called Plymouth in the county of Devon.
I have spent most of my life going to sea in the Merchant Navy, my last employment was on the Safety Ships with Boston Putfords Offshore Safety. (Looking after the personell on the Gas Rigs in the North Sea.)

You might think I go on a busmans holiday but I love going on Cruises each year, it's nice to be pampered instead of doing the pampering.

I also have a great interest in Breeding Thoroughbred Horses, and of course computers.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I feel sure extraterrestrial life exists, the universe is so big and we are so small. There must be other life out there.
I also believe that they will eventually get in touch with us, when the time is right.
As for transmitting a beacon for others to find, sure, I don't see any reason not to. It shows that we are interested in finding others and seeking more knowledge of this vast universe and how to perhaps travel around it.

Myself... I wouldn't mind being whipped away for say a year to see what is out there. So long as I was guaranteed that I would be dropped off again. Ha.

I run SETI@home to add my little bit, towards those who have taken the time to get this project up and running. Every little helps.
