Personal background
Friends call me TC, I'm a 33 year old construction trade worker from Connecticut, I also have a background in IT. I'm a Naval Reservist, Aviation Mechanic, cross-training to Builder in the Navy Sea Bees.

I do many things, from the Color Guard/Rifle Squad for our local VFW Post, drink much beer on the weekends, then work my ass off for the rest of the week to relieve myself of that beer I drink. I'm into sports, hockey, football, etc. Yes, I'm a Yankees fan, and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan as well. I play many different computer games, such as Battlefield 1942-Desert Combat... ok, I'm a techno-geek at heart, and a really big kid. I do have a major interest in our great universe, always loved astronomy, ever since I was young(er). As a child, I always wanted to run a planetarium... shhh... don't tell anyone!

Anyway, that's about all folks, there's much much more to list, but due to the character restriction... which I do believe I'm skating the threshold... I'm done!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, here's my take on extraterrestrial life and the universe as a whole...

1) Yes, I DO believe there is life, other than us in this 'place', as far as intelligent life... heh heh, we have yet to find it, even on our own planet sometimes! I have to think that we will discover it, when we're ready to... at this time, I don't think we are fully prepared for the event of finding true life outside our planet, or galaxy. Who knows when we will be fully prepared either? Possibly, the benefits of this discovery would be to further our knowledge, make some necessary advancements in communication, prove to the skeptics that there IS other life than us 'out there' and to hopefully bring our great earth together... possibly to make, a "good impression". I think a danger of a discovery such as this would be dangerous also, in a 'conspiracy theory-sort-of-way' could be that the 'life' we've discovered, may not have wanted to be discovered... or finds our 'probing' to be threatening.

2) Not sure if we should really transmit a beacon, if so, this would be a magnet for the many 'hackers' out there to send either vital info, or plain nonsense out there for the 'would-be' discoverers... on the other hand, may very well be a good idea... perhaps transmit Kennedy's Inaugural Address, or The Declaration of Independance, or maybe some song by Michael Bolton - NOT!

3) To be honest, I run SETI@home, cause I was looking for an interesting screensaver, though, I have heard and seen SETI@home running on many computers at the dot-com I used to work at, so I thought I'd make my contribution. My views on the project are good... great idea to get people involved, to feel like they play a part in the deal.
