Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I engaged in the SET@HOME project when I first heard of it in 1999 when I was still a student. Because I like the concept of distributed computing and had always been intrigued by SETI (pure scientific), I installed my first screensafer.

Afterwards there were some more projects with distributed computing, and the last three years I was busy doing other stuff and the screesafer disapeared altogether from my desktop.

Since I recently installed a webserver with lots of free CPU-time and memory, I decided to try the newest SETI@HOME-software. I was happy to see that the software had been greatly improved the last years, both in stability as in the means to reduce the systempriority.
