Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you know how many starts there are in the universe? No, probably not... but don't be discouraged. The truth is that scientists don't know either. They make their best approximation, but the truth is that we can only see so far...

Our Earth orbits a medium-sized yellow star... there are millions of medium-sized yellew stars in the universe that can be seen with radio-telescopes, how many are there that we cannot see? The sun holds within it's gravitational pull 9 planet like bodies (or 8... Don't want to start an argument :D ). Hmmm... out of those 9 planets 1 holds life. Do the math, it's not a very good census... but based on current data you could say that 1 in 9 planets orbiting a medium-sized yellow star contains life.

The miracle would not be finding another planet with intelligent life... the miracle would be not finding one.
