Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? Yes. The SETI project is fascinating, to say the least, and I'm happy to play my part. Do I think we'll find what we're looking for? Currently, I'm leaning towards "no." The sheer magnitude of the universe is staggering, and I think it'll be quite a while before a positive result pops up. We still need to try though. Hell, for all we know we *could* be the first advanced technology in the universe...Drake equation, etc, etc...someone had to be the first, eh?
Great idea guys, probably the single best use of internet technology I can think of. A huge conglomerate of individual computers, each chugging away...letting others contribute to the effort. |
