Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am a firm believer that with the size of the milky way alone, nevermind the entire universe, that there are ETs there.

I think humans might just discover these ETs using the combined processing power of Seti@Home.

Benefits of this discovery are the scientific breakthroughs from the ETs Intelligence, that is, as long as they are not at the same technological stage as us.

Some of the dangers are held simply in this question:

Will they be friendly, or will they be hostile?

I think sendig a beacon would be good, but, I also think, don't know, but think that the beacon that we send would reflect just like old television and radio shows did, it would eventually create more noise and be harder for us to find a real signal.

I run Seti@Home because I am a believer that ET is out there and that with the power of all of these users over all of these years we might just find something very interesting.

One thing I would like to see in the client is allowing multiple instances, this is because I have about 8 computers that remain unused and I would love to dedicate them ALL to running S@H, but I know it will still leave them with unused processing power, I would love to be able to run two or more instances, depending on the system's ability.
